The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Penang

     On 16 April 2025, The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Penang was informed

of an incident of a shipwreck in the waters of Langkawi Island, Kedah, at

approximately 12.30 hrs. on the same day. On the vessel, there are 21 Thai

people who works as fishermen.

     Regarding the incident, RTC in Penang coordinated with Thai volunteers in

Langkawi to firstly verify the information and to visit the Thai fishermen to

provide them supports. Later, RTC in Penang was reported by the Thai

volunteers that the 21 fishermen were safe, but their identification documents,

such as passports, identity cards, etc. were lost due to the shipwreck.

RTC in Penang then asked the Thai volunteersto coordinate with the owner of 

the vessel to bring the 21 Thai fishermen to RTC for issuing new passports and 

identity cards.

     Thereafter, the owner of the vessel led all 21 Thai fishermen to RTC for

applying the new passports and identity cards. RTC provided facilitation and

moral supports to the Thai fishermen and also coordinated with Ministry of

Foreign Affairs to expedite the process.

     Recently, RTC has already provided the passports of the 21 Thai Fishermen

to the owner of the vessel for further distribution, whereas the Thai fishermen 

received the identity cards on the same day of their application.

     เมื่อวันที่ 16 เมษายน 2568 สกญ ณ เมืองปีนัง ได้รับแจ้งเหตุว่า เวลาประมาณ 12.30 น. 

ของวันเดียวกัน ได้เกิดเหตุเรืออับปางบริเวณน่านน้ำเกาะลังกาวี รัฐเกดะห์ โดยมีแรงงานประมงไทย

จำนวน 21 คน ทำงานอยู่บนเรือดังกล่าวด้วย 

     สถานกงสุลใหญ่ฯ จึงประสานงานกับอาสาสมัครไทยในมาเลเซีย (อสม.) บนเกาะลังกาวี เพื่อ

ขอให้ช่วยตรวจสอบข้อมูลและลงพื้นที่ เพื่อพบปะพูดคุยและให้กำลังใจแก่แรงงานไทยที่ประสบเหตุ

เรืออับปางดังกล่าว โดยได้รับแจ้งว่า แรงงานประมงทุกคนปลอดภัยดี อย่างไรก็ดี เอกสารประจำตัว

ที่สำคัญ เช่น หนังสือเดินทางและบัตรประจำตัวประชาชน รวมทั้งทรัพย์สินและสิ่งของส่วนตัวของ

แรงงานประมงได้สูญหายไปกับเรือที่อับปางดังกล่าวด้วย สถานกงสุลใหญ่ฯ จึงได้ประสาน อสม.

ขอให้เป็นตัวแทนเจรจากับเจ้าของเรือ ให้นำแรงงานประมงไทยเข้ามาทำบัตรประจำตัวประชาชน

และหนังสือเดินทางเล่มใหม่ที่สถานกงสุลใหญ่ฯ

     ต่อมาเจ้าของเรือได้นำแรงงานฯ ทั้ง 21 คน เข้ามาทำบัตรประชาชน และหนังสือเดินทางที่

สถานกงสุลใหญ่ฯ ซึ่งสถานกงสุลใหญ่ฯ ได้อำนวยความสะดวกในการทำเอกสารดังกล่าว และสอบถาม

ความเป็นอยู่และการทำงานของแรงงานประมงไทย พร้อมทั้งปลอบขวัญและให้กำลังใจแรงงานไทย

ด้วย 

     ทั้งนี้ แรงงานประมงทั้ง 21 คน ได้รับบัตรประจำตัวประชาชนในวันที่เดินทางเข้ามาทำเอกสาร และ

สถานกงสุลใหญ่ฯ และกระทรวงการต่างประเทศได้เร่งดำเนินการออกหนังสือเดินทาง และได้ส่งมอบ

หนังสือเดินทางให้แก่ผู้แทนเพื่อส่งมอบให้แก่แรงงานประมงไทยต่อไป
