Applying for Visa Application:

Do I need a visa?
Travelers who are the holders of the passports of these nationalities are entitled to visa exemption and visa on arrival to Thailand.

Visa on Arrival (VOA)

Holders of passports of the countries in the list below are advised to apply for visa at the Royal Thai Embassy or Royal Thai Consulate-General in their respective countries if they do not reside in or are temporary visitors to Malaysia.

If they wish, they can apply for visa at the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur. However, at least 4 weeks must be allowed for the visa applications to be processed. 

*Visa for citizens of Afghanistan, Iraq and North Korea will need at least 4 weeks to be processed even if they reside in Malaysia.

Visitors to Thailand require different types of visa for different purposes of visit. Please click on your applicable type of visa below for visa application form and more details on required documents.

 

Types of Visa

1. TOURIST VISA (TR) - For tourism 

Upon arrival, travelers with this type of visa will be permitted to stay in Thailand for a period of not exceeding 60 days.

2. TRANSIT VISA (TS) - To transit through Thailand to another country.

3. DIPLOMATIC / OFFICIAL / COURTESY VISA - to assume duties at a foreign Diplomatic Mission or Consulate or International Organization in the Kingdom and to their family members.

4. NON-IMMIGRANT VISA (B) FOR BUSINESS PURPOSE - To engage in business-related activities in Thailand.

5. NON-IMMIGRANT VISA (B) and (IB) FOR EMPLOYMENT - To be employed in Thailand.

6. NON-IMMIGRANT VISA (B) FOR EMPLOYMENT AS TEACHER - To be employed as teacher in Thailand.

7. NON-IMMIGRANT VISA (M) FOR MASS MEDIA -
To cover the news or shoot films/ documentaries/commercials in Thailand.

8. NON-IMMIGRANT VISA (ED) FOR EDUCATION - To study or take academic courses in Thailand.

9. NON-IMMIGRANT VISA (O) FOR DEPENDANT - For dependant of the main visa applicant or foreign spouse/ children of a Thai citizen but NOT applicable to accompany the main applicant of RETIREMENT VISA.

10. NON-IMMIGRANT VISA (O) FOR VOLUNTEER - To engage in volunteer works in Thailand*
*see also remarks (2) below

11. NON-IMMIGRANT VISA (O) FOR MEDICAL TREATMENT - For persons who require medical treatment in Thailand and their accompanying helpers.

12. NON-IMMIGRANT VISA (O) FOR RETIREMENT - to stay after retirement for elderly.

13. NON-IMMIGRANT VISA (O-A) FOR LONG STAY

Upon arrival, holders of this type of visa will be permitted to stay in Thailand for 1 year from the date of first entry.


Those who wish to stay longer or may wish to change their type of visa must apply for permission at the Office of Immigration Bureau located on Government Center B, Chaengwattana Soi 7, Laksi, Bangkok 10210, Tel 0-2141-9889 (or at http://www.immigration.go.th ). The extension of stay as well as the change of certain types of visa is solely at the discretion of the Immigration officer.

 

Processing time:

Visa processing will usually take 3 business days.

Visa can be collected on the third working day after the submission date by walk-in. (please note our Official Holidays)

 

Visa Fee:

- Transit visa (Single-entry) is 125 MYR

- Tourist visa (Single-entry) is 160 MYR

- Non-immigrant visa (Single-entry) is 320 MYR

- Non-immigrant visa (Multiple-entry) is 800 RM (applicable for business purposes only)

- Visa fee is exempted for citizens of Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea and Tunisia

 

Remarks:

  1. All requirements are required in Thai or English
  2. Group family members will be requested for a certificate of relationship (e.g., birth/marriage certificate)
  3. Visa Applicants can walk in on weekdays from 9-10 a.m.
  4. The Royal Thai Consulate deserved the right to refuse the visa application with no reason provided and no refund.

* Remarks

1. Kindly note that a single-entry Non-Immigrant visa allows travellers to stay in Thailand for up to 90 days only. If you which to stay longer, an application of Extension of Stay permit can be submitted at the Thai Immigration Office. Applying for one after another Non-Immigrant visa is not an alternative to obtaining the Extension of Stay and therefore be denied by the Embassy.
 
2. Non-Immigrant visa (O) for Volunteer allows the visa applicants to stay as a volunteer in Thailand for up to 90 days only. The Thai Immigration office may not grant the extension of stay if there is no work permit provided. Each applicant who re-submit the application for Non-Immigrant visa (O) for Volunteer at the Embassy must also submit a letter certifying his/her volunteering status from relevant Thai Government Agency (equivalent to the department level) which related to or regulate the foundation/organization.
