George Town Festival 2026 เป็นเทศกาลประจำปีที่จัดขึ้นโดย George Town World Heritage Incorporated (GTWHI) ซึ่งเป็นหน่วยงานภายใต้รัฐบาลรัฐปีนังที่รับผิดชอบการบริหารจัดการและคุ้มครองคุณค่าที่โดดเด่นเป็นสากลของเขต George Town ซึ่งได้รับการขึ้นทะเบียนเป็นแหล่งมรดกโลกขององค์การยูเนสโกตั้งแต่ปี 2551 โดยเทศกาล George Town Festival มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อเป็นเวทีให้ชาวปีนัง ชาวมาเลเซีย และนักท่องเที่ยว ได้เข้าถึงศิลปวัฒนธรรมรูปแบบต่าง ๆ รวมถึงเสริมสร้างความตระหนักรู้ถึงคุณค่าและความงดงามของอาคาร สถานที่ ศิลปะ วัฒนธรรม และสิ่งแวดล้อมในเมือง George Town ซึ่งจะส่งผลให้ผู้เข้าร่วมงานมีความเข้าใจ และให้ความสำคัญกับการอนุรักษ์สิ่งต่าง ๆ ในเมือง George Town

Royal Thai Consulate-General in Penang provided support to the George Town Festival 2026

On Saturday 2 August 2026, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Penang brought Khon traditional masked dance from Patong Wittaya Mulanithi School to perform at the Esplanade for the Goerge Town Festival 2026. The Khon performance aimed to showcase Thai culture and helped reflect the beauty of multicultural society of Penang, which represents the main characteristics of Penang, and also fostered mutual understanding between Thailand and Penang. The Khon traditional masked dance gained widespread attention from Malaysian people, foreigners residing in Penang, and tourists from many countries.

George Town Festival 2026 is organised by George Town World Heritage Incorporated (GTWHI), which is an organisation under the Penang Government and tasked to safeguard and manage the Outstanding Universal Value of the George Town UNESCO World Heritage Site as it was inscribed in 2008. George Town Festival serves as a platform to engage with Penangites, Malaysians and tourists through arts and culture as well as to raise awareness about the importance to preserve the beauty of the buildings, places, arts, cultures, and the ecosystem of George Town as a part of the George Town conservation effort.
